Shawn Decker is a composer, artist, and teacher who creates sound and electronic media installations and writes music for live performance, film, and video. His work is positioned at the intersection of music composition, the visual arts, and performance, using physical and electronic media to investigate, simulate and praise the natural (and unnatural) worlds.
Shawn lives and works in Chicago, IL, as well as collaborating internationally with various artists - most frequently, Jan-Erik Andersson in Turku, Finland and Anne Wilson in Chicago. . He is a Professor who teaches in the Art and Technology / Sound Studies department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is also a Visiting Artist at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing for the past 5 years. Additionally, he is a founder and partner of the Sketchbook craft brewery in Evanston and Skokie IL.
