Programming for Performance- Project #2

Random Process Live Performance

For this project, create your own live performance patch which is based on the sample playback object, quicktime audio, or whatever other means you like for creating audio. In this patch, use several random processes which are controlled by the keyboard and/or mouse (or by MIDI). - turned on/off, parameters varied, etc.), and your own interface design to do this.

In this patch, plan in advance which aspects of the piece will be random (and exactly how they will be random), and which aspects of the piece will be under your control.

There are a lot of possible things you might explore - I would encourage you to try applying different random processes to different aspects of the sound - for instance, separating out pitch, duration, velocity, loop points, etc. so that each processes can have its overall parameters varied independently.

This patch will be used to perform a short piece (5 minutes max) for performance in class.
